Community Interpreter Services

Established in 1986, Community Interpreter Services (CIS) assists limited English speakers in accessing legal, health, educational, and other services. Our highly skilled interpreters serve as a crucial link between service providers and limited English speakers. Interpreters are recognized for their quality and service excellence.

Program Facts

  • CIS has a network of over 150 trained and professional interpreters who, collectively, speak over 60 languages
  • Interpreters are recruited on a regular basis to meet the geographic and linguistic needs of our clients
  • CIS can train your employees in techniques for effective intercultural communication through an interpreter

Our Interpreters

  • CIS interpreters are proficient in their language and are often native speakers. Many of them are college educated with several years of interpreting experience
  • Our interpreters are bilingual and bicultural, possessing the ability to apply cross-cultural insight to each interpreting session
