Attorney General Martha Coakley announced that her office will provide $100,000 for employment programs for at-risk youth. The funding will provide 60 additional jobs for teens in Massachusetts communities. This funding supplements the $1.5 million in Project YES (Youth Employment Solutions) grants that Attorney General Coakley's Office awarded to 16 programs across the state including Catholic Charities Teen Center at St. Peter's. As a result of the additional funding, the total number of jobs created as a result of the grants will total over 225.

Friends Feeding Families exceeds goal!

The students of Franco American Catholic Elementary School , pictured left, in Lowell, MA, held a food drive in February with a focus on cereal. They raised over 550 boxes of cereal, and donated 300 of them to the Catholic Charities Food Pantry in Lowell. Assistant Principal Sister Jane Holland coordinates a food drive with students every 2-3 months, typically centered around a particular theme, and the Catholic Charities Food Pantry is a regular beneficiary.
Freeport Street Super Stop & Shop Manager Rick Ramos, pictured right, presented $800 to Rick Freitas, Director, Catholic Charities' St. Ambrose Family Shelter. The funds were collected at the registers of the Dorchester store for the Stop N Shop's Food for Friends Campaign , which raises money each year to help support local hunger relief organizations. The Food for Friends Campaign collected the donations during the Thanksgiving holiday. Freitas plans to use the donation to help with families that are currently active participants in the St. Ambrose Shelter's stabilization program.

Evans spearheaded the campaign with her resident colleagues at BMC after learning of the need from St. Cecilia's Parish in Boston.
