Help stem family homelessness: ask for HPRP to be included in the Federal Jobs Bill
The federal government released money this past year for homelessness prevention and re-housing efforts related to the recession--known by several names including Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP) and stimulus money. As a result of this and the deeper than projected recession, the United States Senate is drafting a jobs bill, and there is a national effort to include additional HPRP money in the bill. Working with Homes for Families, we urge you to contact Sen. Kerry and Sen. Kirk's office and say "In order to help create jobs and to stem costly increases in family homelessness, I urge Sen. Kerry and Sen. Kirk to ask Senator Durbin to include $1 billion to extend the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP) in any job-creation bill moving forward."
If you do contact our Massachusetts' Senators, please click here to send an email to Judy Whitmarsh, Director of Social Policy with YES! in the subject line.
