We have three divisions that manage our home-based family child cares—Lynn, Peabody, and Somerville. Family child care homes are located in Peabody, Lynn, Salem, Saugus, Danvers, Nahant, and Beverly as well as Cambridge, Everett, Malden, Medford and Somerville.
Catholic Charities contracts with licensed family child care educators to care for children in their homes. Many of our affiliated family child care homes are accredited by the National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC). Catholic Charities personnel visit the homes regularly to monitor and support the curriculum and other activities, which mirror the activities in our center-based child care. Family child care is a great option for parents looking for a more home-like environment.
Our family child care educators, who represent the cultural diversity of their community, are united by a love of children and a desire to partner with you to support your child’s growth and readiness for school. We believe young children learn best through a combination of play and planned activities with each other, with adults, and with their environment. Our licensed family child care homes encourage active exploration of the world, while helping children grow in a safe, caring, and supportive environment.

Family Child Care West is a full-time, full-year family child care system. Our licensed homes, located in Cambridge, Everett, Malden, Medford and Somerville, serve children ages 8 weeks to 5 years and are open Monday through Friday.
Our educators are recruited and screened by one of the agency’s professional education and/or social service staff. The Family Child Care Educators are licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care and meet or exceed their early childhood requirements. They receive at least 10 hours of additional training throughout the year. Each Family Child Care Educator is CPR and First Aid certified and we conduct background checks and Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) checks. Ongoing consultation and professional development opportunities support educators in their work with your children. Many of our homes are accredited by the National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC) and/or the educators have a CDA (Child Development Associate), an associates degree or a bachelors degree.
Hours vary between child care homes.
