Mentors are ordinary people just like you! They come from diverse backgrounds and are interested in having a positive connection with an adolescent. A mentor is a friend who listens, cares, and offers encouragement; they are positive support for a young person. We believe that providing deliberate one-on-one time with a mentor will help that child succeed.
Mentors come from all over Massachusetts and range in age. Mentors must be at least 22 years old or over to volunteer with the program and be interested in working with a young person.
The application process is simple. First, fill out the mentor application (see below). Upon receiving the application, the program coordinator will call you to schedule an interview. Three personal references must be provided and a criminal background check will be conducted. Mentor applicants accepted into the program will attend a training on site.
Now is a great time to get involved and get in on the Red Sox Mentoring Challenge! Every new mentor who signs up with T.E.A.M. between now and the end of the baseball season will be entered into a monthly drawing for a free pair of Sox tickets. New mentors will also be invited to tour Fenway as part of the Mentor Appreciation event tentatively set for September 23rd!
