Supporting Catholic Relief Services Will Help Those Affected By Hurricane Matthew in the Caribbean

Thursday, October 6, 2016

Boston, MA—Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston is asking you to consider donating to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to support our Caribbean neighbors affected by the excessive flooding and damage caused by Hurricane Matthew.

Catholic Relief Services, our international disaster relief sister organization, has personnel on the ground in affected areas transporting and delivering relief items. Outside of immediate food, the greatest needs anticipated are shelter, water and hygiene supplies. CSR is distributing blankets, kitchen and hygiene kits and other emergency supplies as needed and monitoring potential outbreaks of cholera and other diseases. Your donation to CRS will help families receive immediate relief.

Locally, we serve a large Haitian and Caribbean community in Boston and Eastern Massachusetts. All of us at Catholic Charities Boston share the concerns of those we serve and our employees who have family or loved ones living in the hurricane-affected areas. We will keep all of the people affected by Hurricane Matthew in our prayers and urge those who are able to make a donation to CSR.

As Hurricane Matthew makes its way up to the Florida coast, our colleagues at Catholic Charities USA are poised to also help. Let’s keep Florida, the Carolinas and all the first responders in our prayers. Click here to learn more about Catholic Charities USA’s disaster relief efforts.
