English for Speakers of Other Languages

- Volunteer Teachers Needed!

- Lynn and Salem Locations

Are you a natural teacher or just a good person?

You don't need teaching experience, although we welcome educators! Simply bring your kindness, patience and willingness to help your neighbors who are excited to be learning English. We provide you with orientation and ongoing support from experienced teachers, along with books, lesson plans and activities. Classes are small (10 students) and range from newly arrived immigrants to English language learners preparing for college. Classes are Monday through Thursday, mornings and evenings, in-person or on Zoom. We ask only for a 2-hour commitment to one group of students (or student) once a week and will do our best to accommodate your schedule as a classroom teacher or tutor.

Companions to the Aging

- Male and Female Volunteers Needed

- Greater Lynn Area

Are you a good listener and a good talker?

Male and female volunteers are needed to spend one hour a week with an isolated senior in his/her home to bring companionship, empathy, and advocacy, play a game, do some crafts, or just enjoy a nice chat (no personal care involved). You'll also learn about community services that might be helpful to him/her. Training and ongoing guidance provided. A one-year commitment to the program to help relationship-building and a reliable vehicle needed.
