Youth Tutoring Youth (YTY) is a year-round, EEC (MA Department of Early Education and Care) licensed school age program serving the South Boston community and beyond. The program provides a safe place for youth ages 5-13 to spend ager school hours while instilling a sense of belonging and fostering educational enrichment. High achieving teen leaders ages 16-18 assist younger students with tutoring homework help mentoring, exercise , reading, writing, math, and confidence building.

YTY offers full day programming during school vacations and summer months. The summer session provides students with remedial and academic, skill sustaining instruction, ensuring they are prepared to return to school in the fall. In addition to academic development, students participate in group activities and field trips. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are provided full days.

Academic Support
100% of YTY parents surveyed felt that their children had improved their academic abilities in math, reading, and writing.  YTY youth will experience:

  • Individual attention - Our priority is to give each student the homework help and individualized skill practice needed to improve school performance and help set the foundation for successful learning. YTY’s trained teen leaders work with students in small groups to help  meet this goal.
  • Small class size - We maintain a small classroom enrollment so that no student at the program will be overlooked. Individual student needs and personalities are thoughtfully incorporated into daily activities.
  • Balance of structure and choice - YTY’s programming aims to balance structured activities such as tutoring and group projects with free choice and outdoor play whenever possible.

Fun & Educational ActivitiesAt YTY, your child will spend time learning with teen leaders trained to provide homework help and academic coaching. Students can play games with other children and get exercise through physical activities. The group will go on monthly field trips and have the opportunity to use technology to learn.
