Catholic Charities Greater Boston | Yawkey Center, Dorchester

The Catholic Charitable Bureau of the Archdiocese of Boston is seeking a full-time Deputy Director to assist in the management and business operations of the Greater Boston programs at the Yawkey Center in Dorchester.  The Deputy Director will work closely with the Greater Boston Community Service Center Director to ensure the fiscal soundness and overall management of the division, and will assume authority in the absence of the director while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality. 

The essential functions include; follow agency and program policies and procedures and ensure each program is adhering to regulations as established by funders and Catholic Charities.  Conduct program evaluation to ensure the targeted community is receiving best practice and working within the scope of contract compliance. Utilize all social services within Catholic Charities with special focus on those at the local site, to create comprehensive services to clients.  Assure that programs have community connections through membership and collaborations with other community agencies and groups, local councils, boards and local political liaisons.  Identify staff development needs and facilitate necessary training, coaching, and professional development opportunities for onsite employees.  Aid program directors in the research and attainment of possible grants and funding opportunities that would enhance staff development, family engagement, building improvements, and overall services to clients and staff.  Support program directors with employee relations as needed.  Participate in the performance evaluation process to ensure that each employee is reviewed annually.  Work with the advisory board to ensure communication and support of programs including fundraising with the Greater Boston programs.  The Deputy Director will also serve as a representative of Catholic Charities on local and state issues effecting the needs, issues, and services for the communities we serve and participate in the annual budget process. 

Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Social Work, Education or a related field with a minimum of three years of experience working in human services or education.  Proven supervisory experience leading and developing varying skill levels of employees and knowledge of family services, workforce development, and child welfare and/or community action required.  Candidate should possess solid written, verbal and organizational communication skills.  Discretion and diplomacy is required at all times.  The interest in working as a member of a team and independently is necessary.  The ability to deliver oral and visual presentations to various sizes of group, and cultural competency are essential.  Competent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and PowerPoint are all essentials for this position.  A Massachusetts valid driver’s license and reliable car for local travel will be required.
