Catholic Charities Boston to Honor Kevin Phelan at 2025 Spring Celebration

Catholic Charities Boston will honor Kevin Phelan, co-chairman of Colliers Boston, on Wednesday, May 28 at the agency’s annual Spring Celebration Gala at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. 

Kevin will receive the John and Virginia Kaneb Justice and Compassion Award, Catholic Charities’ highest honor. The award recognizes individuals who exemplify the agency’s core values of social justice and serving others with compassion, respect and dignity. 

A longtime business leader, philanthropist, and champion for social justice in Greater Boston, Kevin has served on numerous boards including Catholic Charities Boston’s Board of Trustees, Providence College, Simmons College, Newton Country Day School, St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center of Boston, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. 

“My advice to all of us in prominent positions in the business community is to give back,” said Kevin. “Give time back. Serve on a nonprofit board that has some meaning to the community. We’re a fabulous community here in Boston.”

The Justice and Compassion Award is named after the late John Kaneb, a beloved former Catholic Charities Boston Board member who assisted the organization until his death in 2021, and his wife, Virginia, to commemorate their decades of generous support of the Agency. Since 2007, the annual Spring Celebration Gala has raised essential funds to support the thousands of individuals and families who rely on Catholic Charities’ programs for services and stability.
