‘She would be so proud knowing these decorations went to Catholic Charities:’ Former Labouré Client Remembered Through Holiday Donation

Maureen Lee, a lifelong South Boston resident, recently dropped a box filled with sparkling Christmas ornaments and decorations off at Catholic Charities Boston’s Labouré Center, her eyes filled with tears.
The ornaments belonged to her close friend, Pat Reynolds, a South Boston native who attended the Labouré Center nearly 70 years ago when she was just three years old. When Pat passed away last summer, Maureen knew exactly where the decorations belonged.
“I have no doubt Pat would have been so happy and so proud that these decorations and ornaments found a home with Labouré, a place that meant so much to her,” Maureen said. “It really is full circle.”
The decorations and ornaments are now available in the front lobby of the Labouré Center for clients, staff, and families to take home this holiday season.
Maureen said even as an adult, Pat often spoke about the profound impact the Labouré Center had on her as a child, sharing stories of the warm teachers, the tight-knit community, and the sense of comfort she felt every day.
“To remember something from so long ago shows how deeply it touched her,” Maureen shared. “The Labouré Center held a special place in her heart.”
Throughout her life, Pat continued to give back to Catholic Charities Boston’s Labouré Center, donating Christmas decorations to the Labouré Shoppe and participating in the annual Christmas House Tours. While these traditions no longer take place, they remain special memories for many South Boston residents who have visited the Labouré Center over the years.
“Pat had a very generous heart,” Maureen said. “She was deeply spiritual and always giving to others, inviting people into her home to see her magnificent Christmas tree. I know she would be so proud knowing these decorations are going to Catholic Charities and a community that meant so much to her.”
