M&T Bank Donates Over 1,000 Pounds of Food and $20,000 to Mobilize GivingTuesday Support for Catholic Charities Boston

M&T Bank marked this GivingTuesday by delivering more than 1,000 pounds of donated food to Catholic Charities Boston’s Lynn Food Pantry, the culmination of a month-long food drive hosted by M&T Banks across Eastern Massachusetts this November.

To celebrate the impact of this crucial partnership, twenty M&T employees volunteered on-site to unload the donations and restock pantry shelves. They were joined by M&T Bank Regional President Jeffrey Carpenter, who presented Catholic Charities Boston with a $20,000 grant to further support the agency’s efforts to alleviate hunger this holiday season.

“Food insecurity is a crisis right now in Massachusetts, and this is a moment that matters,” said Jeffrey. “The expansion and extension of Catholic Charities’ mission through our 45 donation boxes across Eastern Massachusetts has been a tremendous blessing and tremendous partnership.”

Catholic Charities Boston President and CEO Kelley Tuthill thanked M&T Bank for their steadfast support of the vulnerable families and children Catholic Charities serves.

“Hunger doesn’t wait for your next paycheck,” said Kelley. “These shelves were once bare, and they aren’t anymore thanks to your generosity.”

Local leaders also attended the event, including representatives from Senator Brendan Crighton’s office and Lynn Mayor Jared Nicholson, who spoke to the powerful ripple effect such community partnerships have in helping those most in need.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have such great partners in Catholic Charities,” said Mayor Nicholson. “We appreciate M&T bank for seeing the role that this pantry plays for Lynn and for the greater region.”

The food drive, which collected non-perishable items including canned protein, vegetables, grains, and soup, reflects an ongoing partnership between M&T Bank and Catholic Charities Boston to support residents facing rising food insecurity across Eastern Massachusetts.
