Client’s Move to New Apartment Aided by Catholic Charities Boston

An upcoming move for Lisa is more than just a change of address. It will give her peace of mind as she cares for her two daughters. And that peace of mind is helped by the assistance Lisa recently received from Catholic Charities Boston.
Lisa currently lives in a two-floor apartment in the Greater Boston area with her 11-year-old daughter, who is autistic and non-verbal. For several reasons, the setup of their current apartment no longer works for them.
But before she could move into a larger, one-floor apartment in the same building, Lisa needed help paying the remaining balance on her utilities bill. She turned to Catholic Charities.
“I’m grateful (Catholic Charities) was able to help us,” said Lisa. “Now our utilities are squared away. I was really looking at a hard time if I didn’t get the utilities paid off.”
In addition to one floor, the new apartment also features a third bedroom, which Lisa said her other daughter will use when she visits home from school. Lisa, who works part-time at a flower shop, has lived in the same apartment building for a few years now, and that stability has been beneficial to her 11-year-old daughter.
“We’re familiar with it,” Lisa said. “(My daughter) loves the pool here. She learned to swim last year, so I think it will be a nice summer.”
Part of Catholic Charities’ basic needs core services is providing utility assistance to ensure individuals and families in crisis can find, or maintain, stability in their living environment. For more information, click here.
