Cubby Oil Marks 80 Years of Serving Community with Coat Donation to Catholic Charities Boston

For 80 years, Cubby Oil & Energy has been in the business of keeping New England families warm. But this year, in honor of its 80th anniversary, the longtime family-run company extended that mission beyond heating systems—by giving the gift of 80 warm winter coats to Catholic Charities Boston’s clients in need.
The donation was sparked by Cubby Oil President Charlie Uglietto, the son of Cubby Oil’s original owner, who wanted to celebrate the company’s milestone anniversary by giving back to those most in need. Charlie reached out to his cousin, Bishop Peter Uglietto, who connected him with Catholic Charities Boston to help facilitate the donation.
“Charlie didn’t want this to be about us,” said Nancy Kirby, Sales Manager at Cubby Oil. “He wanted it to be about giving back to the community.” ‘He’s such a caring person and it trickles down to everything we do.”
The donation included 40 brand-new jackets for children, both boys and girls, and 40 adult jackets for men and women. The coats will be distributed to families across Merrimack Valley, including young mothers at Brigid’s Crossing Shelter, parents in the Family Support Services program, and clients at the Lowell Food Pantry.
“The families we serve will be so grateful for this generous donation,” said Laurie Lee, Office Manager at Catholic Charities Merrimack Valley, who provided Cubby Oil staff with a tour of the agency’s Lowell site. “It not only will keep them warm but is a tangible reminder that they are not alone.”
The donation is just one example of the company’s deep ties to the community. Kevin Robitaille, Project Manager at Cubby Oil, said they were grateful for the opportunity to partner with Catholic Charities Boston and support those most in need, as the cost of living continues to place immense strain on local families struggling to make ends meet.
“Living in New England, with winters getting colder, we know a lot of people lean on Catholic Charities every day,” said Kevin. “Keeping families warm is what we do, and this coat donation is just another way to do that.”
