Three Ways to Support Nonprofits in your Community for National #NonprofitDay

August 17 is National Nonprofit day, and we thank all the difference makers, from donors to partners to our volunteers, who continue to help Catholic Charities Boston in responding to the most pressing needs facing people and families in our community.

Here’s three ways that you make a difference for National Nonprofit Day:

Support Your Favorite Cause

Massachusetts has some of the largest numbers of nonprofit organizations in the country, and organizations like Catholic Charities Boston are taking a holistic approach to moving people from crisis to stability. From emergency housing shelters, a new market pantry in Lynn responding to record-high rates of food insecurity, to refugee resettlement initiatives that welcome families opening emergency housing shelters, there are plenty of programs and initiatives that you can support that prevent hunger or homelessness and help clients connect with education and job opportunities.

Become a Volunteer

From Chris Avery, who uses her gift store to raise money for the Catholic Charities Teen Center; Ellen Modica, who volunteers at the Yawkey Food Pantry every week, to groups of volunteers who help maintain the grounds at Sunset Point Camp and St. Ambrose Family Shelter, volunteers play an incredibly important role in providing the comfort and resources that clients need to achieve self-sufficiency. Share Impact Stories

One of the simplest ways to support a nonprofit is to share stories of the organization’s positive impact, including stories like Nazar’s, a Ukrainian who received support from the Agency’s Refugee and Immigrant Services, or Promise’s, a young mother and recent HiSET graduate who is now pursuing her dream job, or Marissa’s, a client who lived with her daughter at Nazareth Family Shelter before moving into an apartment of their own through the support of Nazareth’s staff. Spreading awareness of such successes not only helps to illuminate the life-changing impact that nonprofits can have but also demonstrates how critical of a need there is for people to support nonprofits in their area through contributing time, resources, and funding.
